Robinson, 64, of Ionia, died late Sunday afternoon at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Robinson was born in Ionia March 27, 1921, the son of Gerald and Marion Cook Robinson. He attended schools in Ionia and took a short course and graduated from LaSalle University in Chicago. Robinson lived and worked on his parents’ farm in Ionia Township and also was employed at Gibson’s Refrigerator Co., Ionia Manufacturing Co., and part time at Kroger in Ionia. He started employment at Ionia State Hospital in 1967 and retired from Riverside Correctional Facility in 1981. Robinson was a longtime and active bowler, a member of Ionia Moose, the Friendship of Moose, and the Travel Trailer’s Good Sam Club. He is survived by a son, Steve of Portland; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; his mother, Marion; a brother, Gerald of Saranac; and a sister, Mrs. Jim (Betty) Struble of Muir. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Valentine of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
