Mar. 22, 1976 Clara Roche, 66, of 8267 Church street, Palo, died at her home Tuesday afternoon. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio, July 29,1911, the daughter of Frank and Mary Baldys Zmuda. The family moved to Michigan when she was a young child and Mrs. Roche attended schools in St. Johns and Ionia high school. She married Allen M. Roche September 19, 1927 in Bryan Ohio and they made their home in Ionia for many years, moving to Palo after retiring. Mrs. Roche was employed at AC Spark Plug during World War II, the Ivan Clark Manufacturing company in Lyons and Lyons Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons, retiring in the spring of 1975. She also assister her husband in the operation of Rainbow Lanes bowling alley in Ionia for several years. An active bowler, Mrs. Roche was in the top 10 area women bowlers. She was a member of the Palo Baptist church, Palo Rebekah lodge 389, Fred Hall L.E.A. 53 and a former longtime member of First Christian church in Ionia.. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Peterson of Stanton; one sister, Mrs. Ormel (Helen) Young of Grand Ledge; two grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services are Friday at 3 pm in Palo Baptist church with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Burial in in Palo cemetery.
