His home was in Garden City Park, Long Island, N.Y., and he was secretary of the American Paper and Pulp association. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Rochester who resided on Lovell Place while living in Ionia in the 1920’s, where Sidney Rochester was a conductor for the Pere Marquette and later was employed as storekeeper at the Michigan Reformatory. After graduating from Ionia high school, Donald went on to take his degree at Michigan State College and in 1928 went to Hoxieville, near Cadillac, as superintendent of schools. After two years at Hoxieville he joined the educational division of the Michigan Conservation Department where he remained for eight years. Surviving him are his wife, the former Elberta Kruger of Cadillac; a daughter, Dianne, of Saginaw; two sons, Paul and Phillip, of the home; two brothers, Arthur of Midland and Bernard of Sydney, Australia, and his father, Sidney, of Six Lakes. Funeral services were attended Tuesday afternoon at Cadillac, where burial took place.
