Peckins, following an illness of only days, of septic arthritis and endocarditis, aged 78 years. Bridget Fitch was born in Dublin, Ireland, April 6, 1839, and was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Fitch from a family of six children. When she was eleven years of age she came to America with her parents and settled in Lyons township on what is now known as the Howard Kimball farm. April 8, 1859, she was united in marriage to John Rock at Westphalia, and for many years they made their home on a farm near the river above the present Commonwealth dam. To them were born eight children, two dying in infancy, one son, Charles, passing away in 1912; five children still survive, Mrs. Geo. Canfield, Detroit; Mrs. Orpha Lawless, Portland; Mrs. Thos. McQuillan, Mrs. O.C. Peckins and A. Rock of Lyons. The funeral will be held Friday morning at nine o’clock at SS. Peter & Paul’s church at Ionia; Rev. Fr. McCarthy officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
