Ionia Sentinel Standard – Monday, 12 December 1925
Lewis D. Rockey, 79 years of age, died Saturday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the 
residence of his daughter, Mrs. Claude Brockway, 930 West Lincoln Avenue.  His 
death which was the second one in Ionia in 1925, occurred after a short 
illness.  Mr. Rockey and his daughter Miss Grace D. Rockey came to Ionia from 
Belding about a year ago so that Miss Rockey could help care for her sister 
who has been ill for many months.  Mr. Rockey who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. 
Dan Rockey was born in the state of Ohio and is the last of a family of 14 own 
brothers and sisters and two adopted children.

Mr. Rockey is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Claude Brockway, and Miss Grace 
D. Rockey.  He is also survived by four grandchildren.  The funeral will be 
held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Brockway Tuesday afternoon at 2 
o’clock., Rev. Alfred Trenerry of the Baptist church will conduct the 
service.  On account of illness in the family the service will be private 
except to personal friends of the family.  Burial will take place at the 
Highland Park cemetery.
