Dr. J. B. Roe Is Taken By Death

Died Friday Morning At Home In Lansing; Was Born In Portland.

Dr. J. B. Roe, 52, son of Mrs. Marietta Roe, of Portland, died at his home in 
Lansing Friday morning after an illness of more than a year.  Funeral services 
were held at the Estes-Leadley funeral home in that city Monday forenoon with 
interment in Deepdale cemetery.

Dr. Roe was born in Portland and was a graduate of the High school here, later 
attending the Northwestern university and University of Detroit, taking post 
graduate work in dentistry at the University of Michigan, from which he 
graduated in 1909.

After his college work was completed Dr. Roe located at Clare, practicing his 
chosen profession there until 1921 when he moved to Lansing.  He was a very 
successful as a dentist and became prominent throughout the state.  In 1922 he 
was elected as president of the Michigan State Dental association, serving in 
that capacity for three years and on the examining board for five years.  He 
was forced to give up his practice over a year ago because of ill health.  
Until that time he had maintained an office in the Tu??ing building at Lansing.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Nora L. Roe; four sons, Kenneth, Harold, Joseph 
jr., and Warren, and a daughter, Mary Imbell? all of Lansing; his mother, Mrs. 
Marietta Roe, of Portland; three brothers, Dr. R/B.?  D. Roe, of Jackson Lester 
Roe of Lansing, Clifton Roe, of Portland; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Brown, of 
L’Anse; Mrs. Fred L????, of Fowlerville, and Mrs. Harry Mulder, of Dearborn.  
There are ?? grandchildren.
