F. Roe, died at her home on South Kent Street Saturday afternoon. She had been ill for several months, and her condition had steadily grown worse. Mrs. Roe was 81 years of age, was born in Sebewa and had spent 80 years in Portland. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Beard. Her husband, for many years a Portland merchant in the town’s earlier days, died several years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Brown, Reed City; Mrs. Helen Lantz, Fowlerville; Mrs. Genevieve Huller, Dearborn; two sons, Clifton Roe of Portland; and Dr. B. D. Rose, of Jackson. There are also 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Roe had been a member of Portland Methodist church for 48 years, and was also a member of the W. S. C. S., Ladies Literary Club and Eastern Star. Funeral services were held at Neller Funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. George Stanford of Portland Methodist church officiating, and bearers were Harold Storz, Russell Curtis, Ralph Blackman, Charles Lewis, Earl Dake and Dan Smith. Burial was in Portland Cemetery. Attending the funeral were relatives from Detroit, Jackson, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Mason, Fowlerville, Reed City, Dearborn, Merrill and Midland.
