Rogers, 81, of Mesa., Ariz., formerly of Ionia, passed away Tues., Oct. 23, 2001. She was born on July 15, 1920 in Bloomer Township, Carson City, the youngest child of J. and Ola (Thayer) Miner. She graduated from Carson City High School in 1937. She went on to marry Bernard Rogers in 1949. Together they farmed in Vickeryville before moving to Ionia in 1962. Mrs. Rogers worked at Ionia County Hospital as a nurse aide. She was also employed by Ionia Public Schools. Mrs. Rogers enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She made many fine gifts for her family and friends. She was awarded numerous Ionia Free Fair ribbons for her work and won the Fair’s first-ever Needlework Department Queen honor. She is survived by her five daughters, Joanne (Stuart) Ralph, Judith Wilson and Janet Tank all of Mesa, Ariz., Martha (Terry) Henigan of Ionia and Margaret (Richard) Ebles of Sheridan; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard in 1996, a brother, two sisters and a grandchild. Mrs. Rogers has been cremated upon her request. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ionia Area Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
