Helen T. (Meyers) Rogers, 89, of Portland, passed away on Friday, January 4, 
2008.  She was born on September 30, 1918 in Westphalia the daughter of Joseph 
and Mary (Schafer) Gensterblum.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic 
Church.  Helen worked at the Wagon Wheel in Portland for 27 years.  She was an 
avid bingo player who enjoyed her children and grandchildren.  

Helen is preceded in death by her former husband, Lewis; sister, Adeline 
Smith; brother, Francis Gensterblum; and grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Bobbi 
and Ryan.  

Surviving are children, Geraldine "Gerry" (Charles) VanDerWoude of Portland, 
Joseph (Sandy) Meyers of Ionia, Elaine Ewing of Grand Rapids, Robert (Linda) 
Meyers of Lyons, Michael Meyers of Portland, Sue Luna of Portland and Theresa 
(Brad) Babinski of Phoenix, AZ; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 12 
great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Tillie (Robert) Hufnagel of Portland 
and Rita Miller of Pewamo. 

A memorial mass will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m. on 
Saturday, January 19, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland.  
Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.  In 
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Heartland 
Healthcare, Ionia Area Hospice or the Portland Senior Center in Helen's name.
