Was formerly a Resident of Ionia and Drove First Sprinkling Wagon Was Buried in Florida but Nephew Has Remains Exhumed and Transferred The remains of Joseph A. Rogers who died March 18 at Miami, Florida, are being brought here for burial, to be placed in the lot in Highland Park cemetery alongside of the remains of his wife. Mr. Rogers was an old soldier and formerly a resident of Ionia. He drove the old wooden sprinkling wagon which kept down the dust on Ionia streets many years ago and ran a dray line in this city. About two years ago he went to Florida, and remained there up till the time of his death. The remains were brought here in accordance with the wishes of Mr. Rogers. Burial took place at Miami. Subsequent Publication: Wednesday, April 24, 1912 The remains of Joseph A. Rogers who died in Florida arrived in Ionia last night and the funeral will be conducted from the Winchell & Stone undertaking rooms this afternoon, under the auspices of the G.A.R. Rev. G. J. Masey conducted the services. Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Benedict sang.
