Rogers, 83 of Ionia, died August 17, 1996. He was born April 23, 1913 in Butternut, Mich., the son of Peter and Margaret (Fahey) Rogers. He went on to marry Mary Miner Jan. 20, 1950 in Indiana. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and life member of the Sheridan VFW Post. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 1976 after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife Mary of Ionia; daughters Martha (Terrance) Henigan of Ionia, and Margaret (Richard) Ebels of Sheridan; step daughters Joanne (Stuart) Ralph, Judith Wilson and Janet Waattier, all of Arizona; sister Bernadine Greenhoe of Greenville; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one brother. Military committal services will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 1:30 p.m., at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.
