Custer and Henry A. Rogers, was born Sept. 2, 1828; died April 18, 1904, being 75 years, 7 months and 16 days old. She was born in Mercer county, Pa. She was one of a family of eleven children, of which one brother survives her. When quite young she moved with her parents to Ashtabula county, Ohio. Here she was married, at the age of 22, to Ezra Sanford, who lived about three years after the marriage. In 1855 she was married to James S. Rogers. To this union were born the two children, Mrs. Custer and her brother, Henry A. Rogers. In the year 1866 they moved to Ionia county, Mich., where she resided until three years ago, when she moved to Eaton Rapids with her daughter, Mrs. Custer. While in Ohio, she united with the M.E. church, at the age of 18. After moving to Michigan, she was not near the church of her choice, so she was transferred to the Wesleyan Methodist church. She was always a devoted Christian, a kind and loving mother, unselfish in the highest degree, always discommoding herself for the comfort of others.
