Donald W. Rogers, 84, of Portland passed away Fri., June 28, 2002.  He was born 
on April 20, 1918 in Orange Township, the son of Warren and Millie (Shaw) 
Rogers.  He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed 4-H.  Mr. Rogers was a lifelong 
member of the Quarter Horse Association, was a Hall of Fame farmer, served on 
the Portland School Board for 1 ½ terms, and was a member of the Portland 
United Methodist Church for 77 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Rogers.  
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Kathyleen “Kate” Rogers; daughters, Joan 
(James) Trumble of St. Johns and Mary (Bill) Leonard of Portland; sons, Larry 
(Cheryl) Rogers of Portland and Douglas (Judy) Rogers of Battle Creek; and 
grandchildren, Joseph (Jessi) McCrumb of Portland, Terri (Allan) Miller of 
Portland, Steven (Brenda) Rogers of Portland, Patrick (Debra) Rogers of 
Portland, Ronald (Becky) Rogers of Portand, Adam Rogers of Chicago and Sara 
Rogers of Kalamazoo.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at the Schrauben-Lehman 
Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland with the Rev. Scott K. Otis, Pastor 
of Portland United Methodist Church officiating.  The family will receive 
friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral 
home.  For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Hospice 
or the Portland United Methodist Church, in memory of Donald W. Rogers.  
Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
