His death had been expected, nevertheless the news cast a shadow of gloom over the entire community. He bore up manfully under his affliction, and while knowing the precarious condition he was in, with unfaltering faith, he never gave up hope until the very last hours. All that medical aid and careful attendance could accomplish was ministered, but in vain. He died Thursday of last week, and the funeral services were held Saturday forenoon in the Methodist church, Rev. M.M. Callen, of Lansing, officiating. The remains were followed to the grave by the members of the A.O.U.W. of this place, of which Mr. Rogers was an esteemed member. In his death this community loses an honest, upright citizen – his household a devoted husband and tender parent.
