Funeral Tuesday. Leaves One Son Among the early residents of this village was James Clark Rogers who operated a machine shop near his home. The building is now Hazzard Garage. Mr. Rogers was early identified with the life of the village, was a hard working man, quiet and loyal to his family and friends. About ten months ago he lost his faithful wife. For many years his son Clark who resides in the home has cared for his parent. Last week Tuesday Mr Rogers suffered a stroke of paralysis and passed away Saturday. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R. L. Boadway officiating. Burial was at lakeside cemetery. Mr.Rogers was 81 years of age. OBITUARY James Clark Rogers was born in Eaton Rapids, Mich., Jan.11, 1855, and died at his home in Lake Odessa, August 1,1936, at the age of 81. At the age of nine he moved with his parents to Orange township,Ionia County. The balance of his life was spent in Orange township and the village of Lake Odessa with the exception of about 13 years that he lived in Detroit. He was a machinist by trade and was known and respected by a wide circle of friends for his fine workmanship and kindly disposition. On October 7, 1877, he was united in marriage to Debra Oberhholtzer. to this union were born two children, Clark Rogers who survives and Cora, who died in October 1920. Mrs.Debra Rogers died November 18, 1935. For several years before her death Mrs.Rogers was an invalid and Mr.Rogers life was spent in devotion and care for her comfort. Besides his son Clark, in whose home he died, there survives two grandchildren, Glenn Rogers and Mrs.Glenn Farthing, one great-grandchild, and two sisters Mrs Sidney Chapin and Mrs Lucy Galloway, besides several nephews and nieces.
