Rogers, which occurred Sunday p.m., at St. Louis, Mich., where she went for treatment at Sanitarium nearly three weeks ago. Mrs. Rogers returned from California a few months ago, suffering from nervous prostration, and has remained since in feeble condition. News early last week was to the effect that she was losing ground, and her sister, Mrs. Avery, had decided to go to see her on Friday, when she received a letter written by Mrs. Rogers on Thursday, saying she was feeling better, and not to come. The purpose to telegraph to Mrs. Rogers’ daughter Belle, in school in Boston, was also abandoned on receipt of this news. Mrs. Rogers seems to have been taken suddenly worse on Saturday, having a very bad night following, and passing away suddenly on Sunday from heart failure. None of the relatives were with her during these last hours, but Mrs. J. C. Hills? of Chicago and Mrs. Francis E. Burns of St. Louis, long time intimate friends were with her. Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Benjamin Harter, one of the prominent business men of Ionia for many years, during the early history of the town, up to and immediately following the war period. Mrs. Rogers was born in Ionia, and most of her life was passed here, and she was universally esteemed and affectionately regarded by all. The remains arrived here at 11:15 Monday, and the funeral service was held at the family homestead, High street, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30.
