RONALD ROLAND, 86
Ronald James Roland, 86, of Ionia, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July
27, 2018. Ron was born on September 30, 1931, to Henry and Edna (Landers) Roland in
Detroit. He worked for Consumers energy for 42 years until retiring in 1997. Ron enjoyed
going on fishing trips in Canada and loved his Volkswagens.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce Roland; 5 brothers and 3
sisters. Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Bookie) Roland of Ionia; Sons, Chris
(Robin) Roland of Pewamo, Brent (Jan) Roland of North Carolina, Jeffrey Roland (Deb Holtz)
of Sparta; step-sons, Phillip (Leslie) Bookie of Ionia, Victor (Jolene) Bookie of
Orleans and Steve Bookie (Connie) of Ionia; grandchildren, Amanda (Andy) Zeller, Michael Roland,
Brooke (Barrett) Freeman and Cameron Roland; 6 step-grandchildren; great-
granddaughter, Brianna; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at Grove Bible church
in St. Johns with Pastor Brendan Holmquist officiating with interment at Lyons Cemetery. 
Memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to Grove Bible Church's Mission 
fund or Ionia Area Hospice. Online condolences maybe made at lakefuneralhomes.com
