Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Tues. March 15, 1977


LAKE ODESSA-Leon A. Roose, 84, of 2397 Aurelius Road, Holt, died Sunday at the 
Michigan Veteran’s facility in Grand Rapids where he had been a patient since 
July 1976.

He was born in Belgium June 25, 1892 and married Augusta Vroman in Lansing in 
1924. She preceded him in death July 20, 1955.

He married the former Olive A. Cook, January 1, 1959 in Ada and moved to Holt 
after his marriage. He survives. 

Also surviving are one son, Albert of Morrison Lake, five stepsons, Harold 
O’Boyle of Holt, Calvin O’Boyle of Baldwin Park, California, Joseph Vroman of 
Woodland, Maurice Vroman of Portland and Mitchell Vroman of Lake Odessa; three 
stepsons; three stepdaughters, Betty Fisk of Eaton Rapids, Mrs. Josephine Hicks 
and Mrs. Barbara Lee of Lansing; one granddaughter , 21 step-grandchildren and 
20 step-great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 pm in the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel.

Funeral mass is Wednesday at 9 am from St. Edward’s church in Lake Odessa with 
Father Charles Dautremont officiating.

Burial is in Lakeside cemetery.
