Sept. 27, 1945 MRS. A. ROOT BURIED MONDAY Mrs. Austin Root, 78, died Friday at University hospital, Ann Arbor, after being there for observation and treatment since August 10. She had completely recovered from the original illness which sent her there and was about to be discharged to her home here the week previous to her death when she suffered the two strokes which took her life. She was born at Adrian, Mich., and moved with her parents to a farm northwest of town when a small child. Her entire life was spent in this community. She is survived by her husband, a son and daughter, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Whortley & Baine chapel with the Rev. Glenn Miller of Woodland officiating. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. ADA LOUISE ROOT Ada Louise Beckham was born at Adrian, Michigan, February 4, 1967. She moved with her family to Odessa Township in 1870 and lived most of her life here. She passed away at University Hospital, Ann Arbor, September 21, 1945 at the age of 78 years, seven months and 17 days. She was untied in marriage to Austin L. Root December 24, 1887. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, two children, William S. of Woodland and Mrs. James Martin of Ionia; seven grandchildren: Mrs. Werlin Love of Charlotte, Mrs. Donald Kintz of Ann Arbor, Pvt. William, Jr., in service at Manila and Charles, Mae, Marie and Alfred at home. One great-grandchild, David Love. Also five step grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
