Ionia Sentinel - Thursday, April 18, 1889

J. Leroy Root, who has been very sick for several months past with consumption, 
died Monday evening at half-past ten at the residence of his parents, Mr. and 
Mrs. J.L. Root, on East Main street, aged 27 years.

The funeral of J.L. Root will be attended from the family residence on East Main 
street at 3:30 this afternoon. Interment in Highland Park.

The funeral of J. Leroy Root was attended this afternoon from the family 
residence on East Main street. The services were conducted by Rev. Job Pierson. 
The floral tributes were many and very beautiful. Among them was a handsome 
wreath brought by Roy's friends from Lansing and Mason who came to pay their 
last respects to their friend. The interment was in Highland park cemetery.
