Sentinel-Std. - Tuesday, April 13, 1954

Mrs. Martha Root, 75, of Ionia, died Suddenly Monday afternoon at 4:30 at the 
home of a relative, L. J. Tafel, at Lake City.

she was born in Ionia Oct. 27, 1878 and had lived here for 35 years on North 
Jefferson and North streets. She had been visiting in Lake City since Saturday 
afternoon.

her husband, Edwin Root, preceded her in death in 1920. The were married in 
1907.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Louise Meske of Florida. A daughter, Helen, 
died in 1945.

She was a member of the Evangelical B. church in Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 at the Myers funeral home 
with the Rev. Roger Stressman officiating.

Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery.
