Rose, 85, of Belding, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at United Memorial Health Center, Greenville. She was born Sept. 22, 1917, the daughter of LaVende and Edna Manwaring Harrison in Grand Rapids. She moved to Belding in 1943. Harriett was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Washington Club, a member and past president of the Ladies Literary Club, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Belding. She played the organ at Grace Episcopal Church, East Grand Rapids; First Baptist Church, Belding; and First Congregational Church, Belding. She accompanied the Belding High School band members for solo and ensemble competitions and the high school chorus competitions and played for the booster Follies. She taught piano and organ to many area residents for more than fifty years. In 1991, Harriet was the Grand Marshall at the Belding Labor Day parade. For many years she played the organ for area funeral homes. Harriet married Charles F. Rose Jr. on Jan. 21, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Norman in 1920, and Maynard in 1998; one grandson, Jerrold; and her second love, Delmar Warner, Jr. in 2001. Harriet is survived by her children, Bruce and Linda Rose of Carson City, Nev.; Miriam and George Harcek of Perrinton; Charles III and Connie Rose of Belding, Becky Buttrum and Al Wilson of Tacoma Lake; and Paul and Mary Lou Rose of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and Delmer’s children, Lavonne and Ed Moss, Richard Warner, Joyce Sower and Charles Berthume, Arnold and Linda Warner, Darlene and Fred Lange, and their families. The funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Belding, with the Rev. Dr. Dick Woodward officiating and readings by Pastor Byron Davey and Arnold Warner. Visitation is Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church or the Belding Museum.
