Saranac, Jan. 9. (Special) While a dozen men were taking gravel from the Richmond pit, just north of the bridge from this village, this morning, for road work in Keene, a bank caved in and carried with it an amount of dirt estimated to weigh 50 tons. The slide caught Bert Rose. When the body was uncovered life was extinct. Rose was standing between his wagon and the bank. The mass was so heavy that it smashed the wagon board into kindling, and many bones were broken in the unfortunate man’s body. Deceased was 32 years old. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in Saranac Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/r/rose33320nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.3 Kb
