Dec. 18, 2013 Belding- Charles F. "Charlie" Rose III, 71 of Sebring Hill, Florida passed away Friday afternoon Dec. 13, 2013, at Sturgill Hospice Care Center in Spring Hill. Charlie was born on Dec. 11, 1942 in Grand Rapids, the son of Charles F. and Harriet (Harrison) Rose Jr. He graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1961 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1962, where he achieved the rank of chief petty officer prior to his retirement in 1982. Following his career in the U.S. Navy, Charlie worked as a bus driver for Greenville Public Schools and Grant Lakes Motor Coach. He was a longtime member of the Sheridan VFW Post 5065, the Belding-Ionia Masonic Lodge 335 FA&M and the First Congregational Church of Belding. Charlie was active in the bell choir both in Belding and at his church in Florida. Charlie was known mostly for his infections laugh and had a good sense of humor. He really enjoyed his work as a school bus driver and driving for all of the charter bus trips. Charlie was also blessed with having been able to share his love and friendship with the two wonderful ladies he was married to. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Rose in 2003; by his parents (Charles and Harriet Rose), and one brother, Bruce Rose. Charlie is loved and survived by his children, Sharlyn and Jeff Kanoza, Brenda and Bryan Bannnister, Kendra and Kevin Rickle and Miriam and Jeffrey Webster and his wife, Loree Metsker whom he married in 2011; and stepchildren, Dan and Christine Metsker, Diana and Ted Retan; a foster daughter, Amanda Peavey of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Miriam and George Harcek, Becky and Al Wilson, Paul and Linda Rose; his nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, Belding, with Pastor Paul Hulford officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Burial will take place in the spring at River Ridge Cemetery.
