It was his second attempt at taking his own life within a period of six weeks. He previously swallowed a large quantity of aspirin tablets. Ill health is blamed for the man’s despondency. He had suffered from cancers on the face for many years and his condition was getting worse. Three months ago he gave up farming and sold his 80-acre farm, east of Hubbardston, and moved to the village. He had spent nearly all of his life in that vicinity. He is survived by a widow and two daughters.
