Mrs. Mary A. Rosencrans died at her home east of Hubbardston, Monday morning 
at 3 o’clock, October 28.  She was 78 years, seven months and 22 days old.

Mary A. Cooley was born in Marengo Morrow county, Ohio, on March 6, 1851.  She 
came to Michigan when two years old and resided in Wayne county and later in 
Saginaw county.  When about 19 years of age she became a tailoress in Bay City 
and had many girls working under her.  She met John Shear while in Bay City 
and they were married December 17, 1874 and she came to this part of the 
country then.  Three children were born to this marriage, Leanora, who died 
when six years old, Frank Shear and Beulah Bennett, both living east of town.  
Mr. Shear died in 1894 and on October 31, 1899, Mrs. Shear was married to 
George C. Rosencrans, who preceded her in death a few years.

Mrs. Rosencrans has always lived in this community since her first marriage 
except 10 years when she moved to Mt. Pleasant to give her children better 
school advantages.  When a young girl she became an Adventist and clung to 
that church throughout her life.

The funeral services will be held from the residence on Wednesday afternoon at 
2:30 o’clock eastern standard time.  They expect to have the Rev. McKenzie of 
the Cedar Lake academy preach the funeral sermon and expect to have singers 
from the academy.

Beside her two children, Frank Shear and Beulah Bennett, she leaves four 
grandchildren, Mrs. Thelma Shear Prior, William, Robert and Donald Bennett, 
three stepsons and many friends.
