Mr. George S. Rosevelt was doing a job of repairing upon the tenant house owned by E. E. Chapple on Pearl St. Monday when he was stricken with paralysis and was removed to his home on Front St. Instead of improving under the efforts made in his behalf he seemed to grow worse steadily and along about one o’clock that night lapsed into an unconscious state from which he never recovered, but lingered until about one o’clock Wednesday afternoon when he breathed his last. He leaves a wife, two daughters and a son, all of whom were present, Mrs. (illegible) arriving from Canada just a few hours before his death. The funeral will be held from the home Friday at 2 o’clock, Rev. O. A. Carman officiating and will be under Masonic auspices of which society he was a member. Mr. Rosevelt has been a resident of Belding some sixteen or seventeen years and has been quite an active participant in all public affairs. He was admitted to the bar in Greenville years ago and has practiced law most of the time since residing here. He was elected justice of the peace in Otisco before the city was incorporated, holding the office at that time. He was chosen city attorney several terms, and we doubt if there was a man in the city better acquainted with the provisions of the charter or the city affairs in general than Mr. Rosevelt. He has built and owned several houses since coming here, having been in his younger days a carpenter. He also worked in saw mills, learned the drug business, and resided in quite a number of places, having had many and varied experiences. He was loved and respected best by those who knew him best. He was a good friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by those with whom he came into daily contact. His health has not been the best for years and he has gradually failed in strength until the final stroke came. He was 57 years of age.
