Ross was attended from the home on North Dexter St., Tuesday afternoon, many friends of deceased and of the family being present. Richard Kenneth Ross was born on April 9, 1852, in Victoria county, Canada, being one of a family of nine children, four of whom are still living, as follows: Mrs. M. Bradley of Chicago, Wm. J. Ross of Maple Hill, Minn., Miss Florence Ross, Gold Hill, Oregon, and Mrs. William Vaughn of Duluth, Minn. Mr. Ross was married on Dec. 1, 1878, to Alice Palmer. Three children born to this union are living: Mrs. Geo. H. Dye and Miss Georgia Ross of this city, and Lieut. Charles A. Ross of Haines, Alaska. He has resided in Ionia 28 years. In his earlier years in Ionia he superintended the construction of the Dexter street highwater road, and For many years after that he was superintendent of buildings and bridges on the Pere Marquette and Grand Trunk railways. He was a member of Ionia lodge of the Free Masons, the Woodmen, and the Royal Accanum. The carriers were all neighbors: W. F. Marquette, Emory W. More, Frank Baker, Ray E. Curtis, Seymour Clark, and Al Kreuger.
