Ross, 86, of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Metron of Belding. He was born on April 28, 1916, in Edmore, the son of William and Lois (Maxfield) Ross. He was married to DiAnna Spaur on Aug. 29, 1950 in Angola, Indiana. He was a truck driver who retired form Liquid Transport. He loved to spend time with his family, and he treasured every moment with them. He served his country in the United States Army in World War II in the 815th Engineer Battalion. He also served in North Africa and on the Anzio Beachhead in Italy. He grew up in Edmore, but resided in St. Louis for the past 53 years. His wife preceded him in death in May of 1997; his parents; son, Donald Reynolds; sister, Hilma Lawry; brother, Carl Ross; and two great-grandsons, Caleb and Calis Goodspeed. He is survived by his daughter, Carole Ann and James W. Goodspeed of Alma; five grandchildren, Donita Brady of Breckenridge, Dawn and Ken Hill of Vermont, James M. and Malinda Goodspeed of Ithaca, Jon H. and Laurie Goodspeed of Breckenridge, and Jayne and Bill Swisher of Alma; 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Travis, and Lucas Brady, Jacob and Meagan Hill, Grant and Ebin Goodspeed, Nathan, Derek and Kolton Swisher; and two sisters, Gertrude Day of Stanton, Edna McClure of Jackson. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, with Pastor Richard Jolliff officiating. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Anyone wishing to may make a memorial contribution to the hospice of the donor’s choice.
