Per Melissa's wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will take place prior to the service on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Melissa was born in Ferndale, Michigan on May 19, 1970, the daughter of James Carl Ross and Martha Stanhope. Missy graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1989. She married Tony Ross on July 27, 2007 in Ionia, MI. Melissa was born and raised in St. Louis. She was very active in her sons' sports and activities, and was their #1 fan. Missy took great pride in taking care of her three boys. She had a passion for her animals, especially her "girls"; dogs Abbey and Sonny. Missy had a great love for her family, and enjoyed any time spent with them. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Melissa is survived by her husband Tony Ross of Ionia, MI, mother Martha and Jack Dickhout of Boyne City, MI, two sons; Brandon Ross of Ionia and Jake Ross of Ionia; mother-in-law Sherry Ross of Phoenix, Arizona, sister Becky and Dave Bachelder of Alma; brother James and Tracy Ross of Celina, Texas; brother Mike and Jodi Ross of Mt. Pleasant; sister Amy and Brent McQueen of Vestaburg; brother Andy and Regina Ross of Mt. Morris; grandmother Marge Stanhope of Boyne City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant twins, infant son, father Jim, grandparents, and two nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
