Ross, 74, of 134 Prospect Street, Lyons, died Saturday at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Grand Rapids, after a short illness. Born May 16, 1910, in Winona, Kan., he was the son of Fred and Jenny Kruger Ross. He attended Ionia Public Schools. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was superintendent of the laundry at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, and later was employed at Oldsmobile. He retired as custodian of Rather School and had also been an employee of Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir. He was a charter member of Lyons-Muir Post 4646 of the VFW and served as the post chaplain. He was married to Marian McQuillan in 1963; she survives. Also surviving are two step sons, Gary McQuillan of Lyons and George McQuillan of Arizona; one sister, Mildred Dennis of Muir; and five step grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Muir First Christian Church, with the Rev. Robert Ziebarth of North Plains Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Muir Cemetery. A memorial for VFW Post 4646’s Building Fund has been established, in care of Hull Memorial Chapel.
