                                ELLA J. ROSS

IONIA-Ella J.Ross, 78, of 902 Chapman Street, Ionia, died Tuesday morning at the 
M.J.Clark Memorial Home in Grand Rapids.

She was born November 6, 1906, in Lowell, Mich. the daughter of William Kennedy 
Ross and Mary Jane Rutledge Ross.

Surviving are two sisters, Hazel Newman of Lansing and Gladys Wingeier of 
Hasting; one brother, Lester Ross of Cass City; 3 nieces and 5 nephews.

A brother, GordonRoss, preceded her in death.

She was an officer of the First Security Bank until her retirement in 1970.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church having served as Financial 
Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

She was a charter member and past President of the Wesleyan Service Guild and a 
life member of the Order of the Eastern star, Queen Esther Chapter No. 35.

Also a member of the Ionia Business and Professional Women's Club, she served as 
President for two years. During her presidency that club organized the Ionia 
Chapter of the American Cancer Society of which she was president for 16 years 
and served on the State Board for three years. She was also Chairman of the 
State Board of Michigan Federation of Business and Professional Women's Club for 
two year.

Funeral services will be held from the Montgomery-Leddick Funeral Home Friday at 
10 am with the Rev. Keith Bovee officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.

Memorials have been established fr the American Heart Association, the M.J.Clark 
memorial Home, and the First United Methodist Church.
