The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, May 18, 1949
Mrs. Emma Ross, 80, former Muir resident and teacher, died at her home in 
Jackson Tuesday, May 17, after a long illness.  She was born in Muir and her 
maiden name was Emma Stoddard.  She married Charles Ross of Muir who preceded 
her in death.  Before moving from Muir many years ago, she taught school.  
Surviving are two daughters, Mr. Rowena Lake and Louise Ross of Jackson and 
two grandchildren.  Mrs. Ross was an aunt of Lester Ross of East Main street.  
Funeral services will be held in Jackson.  Graveside services will be held at 
Muir cemetery at 3 p.m. with the Rev. George L. Rentschler, Pastor of the 
Presbyterian church of Ionia, officiating.
