Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, June 10, 1937

J. E. Ross, 84 years of age, died at his home at 1:30 Thursday morning after a 
lingering illness. He was born on May 3, 1853, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ross, and has

always lived in Lyons township. He was married to Miss Lottie Segog in 1872, and 
they lived on his farm north of Muir until his retirement in 1921, and they moved 
into the home in Muir where he died. The Ross school district was named for him. He

had enjoyed an active life and goo health until about a year ago.

His is survived by his wife, Lottie; four sons, George E. of North Plains, Lester V.

of Ionia, Fred J. of Lansing, and Alton M. of Oakland, Calif., two grandsons, 
Culbertson W. of Washington, D.C. and Clifford Ross of Lansing; three 
granddaughters, Mrs. Thane Dennis of Ionia and Barbara and Betty Ross of Oakland, 
Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Pauline and Richard Dennis of Ionia.

Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. 
Interment will be in the North Plains cemetery.
