All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net August 9, 2012, 2:24 pm The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, August 9, 1934 Funeral services were held from the Knapp-Smith funeral home, Owosso, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, for Frederick Rothgang, 46, resident of Owosso for the past six years, and a world war veteran and legionaire, who died unexpectedly at Memorial hospital Sunday night, while undergoing an operation on his throat. The services were in the charge of Patterson-Dawson post No. 57, American legion, of which Mr. Rothgang was a member. Interment was at Highland Park cemetery in Ionia. Mr. Rothgang was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rothgang, Ionia township. He was born in Unionville June 19, 1888. When he was still very young, he came to Ionia with his parents. He enlisted for service in the World war, and was in France through the time that the United States was engaged in conflict, being in the headquarters outfit of General Pershing. He was married in 1923 to Mrs. Lillian Hudson, of Ionia, and they moved to Owosso in 1926. He is survived by his wife; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Alijah Adams, of Owosso; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Rothgang, Ionia township; two brothers, Oscar, of Ionia, and Herbert, of Cardington, O., and one grandchild.
