Mrs. Rothgang, who had long been an invalid and got about in a wheel chair, was found unconscious in the bedroom of the home by her son, Oscar, who returned from Palo about 11:30 Sunday to find the kitchen of the home in flames. Mr. Rothgang believes that his mother had gone to the kitchen to prepare dinner and that trouble with the oil stove started the fire. Mrs. Rothgang had apparently made her way from the kitchen to this bedroom where she was overcome by smoke and shock. She was taken from the house by her son and removed to the Ionia County Memorial hospital where she died. Oscar Rothgang, who is employed in a Lansing factory, received burns about the head. The home was completely destroyed and was partially insured. The Lyons fire department sent its truck to the fire, but the fire had gained such headway that nothing was saved. The home was purchased from Judson Coe in 1914 by Mr. and Mrs. Rothgang. Ionia-Std.
