GEORGE (DORAL) ROUNTREE

IONIA - George (Doral) Rountree, 81, formerly of Ionia, died Nov. 24 at 
Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids.

He was born Oct. 25, 1909, in Ripley County, MO., the son of George W. and 
Margretta Rose Asher Rountree.

He owned Sample Furniture Company in Ionia and Rountree Furniture in Muir.

He was a master of Ionia Masonic Lodge and a member of the order of the Eastern 
Star, a member of Ionia Chamber of Commerce,  of the South Ionia Businessmen's 
Association, Zion United Methodist Church, and Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his wife Marion; two daughters, Sandra Rountree of Kalamazoo and 
Mrs.Dennis (Brenda) Hoover of Ionia; five grandchildren; six  great-
grandchildren; a brother, James Curtis Rountree of Lansing; and a sister, Audrey 
Barnum of Swartz Creek.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home 
in Ionia, with the Rev. Ray R. Fassett officiating.

Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Ionia County Commission for the Ionia 
County Commission on Aging, the Ionia County Chapter of American Cancer Society, 
and Ionia Area Hospice.
