George W. Rountree, 86, of 508 Nicholson street died Friday afternoon at the 
Robart Nursing home in Mason where he had been a patient since March 1.  He 
was born in Oxly, Mo., November 5, 1874.  In 1898 he was married to Rose Asher 
in Missouri and came to Ionia in 1927 where he worked at Michigan Reformatory 
and Mitchell-Bentley corporation until his retirement in 1946.  He was the son 
of Thomas and Anna Hager Rountree.

Surviving besides his wife, Rose, are three sons, Henry Rountree of Lyons, G. 
D. Rountree of Ionia, and James C. of Lansing; a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Barnum 
of Flushing; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Luther 
Rountree of Muir, and Robert of California; two sisters, Mrs. Odie Brown of 
Naylor, Mo., and Mrs. Addie Winchell of Hutchison, Kan.

Service will be conducted at 3:30 Monday afternoon at the Evangelical United 
Brethren church with the Rev. Ray R. Fassett officiating and burial at Balcom 
cemetery.  The body will be at Boynton funeral home until 1 p.m. Monday.
