The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, September 16, 1931
Mrs. Martha B. Roush, 53, died at her home in Portland township Wednesday 
morning at 11:20 following a long illness.  She was the daughter of the late 
Charles Hazzard, and born in Berlin township. 

Funeral services will be conducted at the home in Portland township Friday 
afternoon at 2 o’clock, and at the LeValley church at 2:30.  Burial will be in 
Balcom cemetery.

Those who survived are the husband, Joseph Roush; two sons, Howard, of Ionia 
township, and Donald, at home; a grandson, Wayne Roush; a brother, George, of 
Berlin; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis Adgate, of Ionia township, and Mrs. John 
Shook, of Orange; step-mother, Mrs. Blanche Sherwood, of Ionia; half-brothers, 
Benjamin Hazzard, of Lake Odessa and Charles Hazzard, of South Ionia; half-
sister, Mrs. Harriet McDonald, of Orange, and Mrs. Louis Sherwood, of Berlin.
