H. Rowe Highly esteemed Portland Matron Passed Away Sunday After Short Illness. The death of Mrs. J. Harvey Rowe, which occurred Saturday afternoon, came as a great shock to her many Portland friends as it was reported that morning that her condition was greatly improved. Both Mr. and Mrs. Rowe were ill with pneumonia at the same time, Mr. Rowe having so far recovered that he is able to be up around the house. Mrs. Rowe was born in Orangeport, New York, May 12, 185?, residing at that place until she married Mr. Rowe. Three years later they came to Orange, settling on the farm now owned by Frank Fedewa in 1882, living there until several years ago when they moved to Portland. She was an ardent member of the Methodist church, a devoted wife and mother and sincere friend to a large number of residents of this vicinity who all join in offering their sympathy to the sorrowing family. Besides the husband she is survived by a daughter, Miss Edna, and a son, Dr. Glenn Rowe, of Evart. One sister, Mrs. O. B. Sime? of Buffalo, N.Y., who reached here a few hours before her death, also survives. The funeral was held from the residence, Monday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Bancroft. Interment was made in Portland cemetery.
