Melvin U. Rowe, 69, 921 Masonic Ave. died Sunday at Greenville United Memorial 
hospital following a short illness.  Mr. Rowe was born July 3, 1898 at Kansas 
City, Kansas.  He had been a resident of the Belding area since 1939.  At the 
time of his death, Mr. Rowe was an attendant at Belding Fuel Co.  Ee was 
formerly a farmer and an employee at Bryant Elevator.

He was married to his first wife Elsie May 13, 1933.  She preceded him in death 
in 1960.  He and his wife Virginia were married April 11, 1964.  She survives.  

Other survivors include four step-daughters, Mrs. Sharon Green of Grand Rapids, 
Mrs. Anna Winright of Belding and Kathern and Joyce Malik, both at home; one 
son Donald lee Rowe of Orleans and two step-sons Michael and Martin Malik, both 
at home.  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Leora Lester of Sastoon, Sask., 
Can., Mrs. Susan Mitchell of New Westminster, B. C.; and one granddaughter, 
Sherry Marie Rowe.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 2:30 p.m. at Huffman Funeral 
Home.  Rev. Ross Tracy of Central Methodist Church will officiate.  Interment 
will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens.  Bearers will be Russell Cook, William 
Buchholz, Clifford Hopkins, Ray Smith, Harry German Jr. and William Hopkins Jr.
