Wave, Thurs., Jan. 9, 1969 Clarence Rowlader Passes Away Clarence Bordy Rowlader, 83, of Morgan, passed away Saturday morning at Pennock Hospital where he had been a patient one day. He had been in ill health about 15 years. A native of Woodland Township, he was the son of James and Lulu (Wright) Rowlader and attended the Woodland Township school and was a lifelong resident of Barry County. He married Iva Streeter of Vermontville Sept. 16, 1907, and they farmed in the Vermontville area until he accepted a position with the New York Central Railroad in 1925 and then moved to Nashville. Mrs. Rowlader passed away in 1934 and in 1935 he married Eva Gross of Hastings and they had resided at Morgan the last 32 hours. He retired from his work for the rail road in 1950. Surviving are his wife; one son, Clarence of Freeport, a daughter, Mrs. Lena Roscoe of Kalamazoo one stepson, Ernest Gross of rural Hastings; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bert of Woodland and George of Grand Ledge, and two sisters, Mrs. Zella Martin of Charlotte and Mrs. Ruth Desgranges of Lake Odessa. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Leonard Osgood Funeral Home at Hastings, Rev. D.L. Lichty officiated with burial in the Woodland Memorial Cemetery.
