ROWLAND PARALYSIS VICTIM Little 9 Year Old Son Taken Friday. Dies Monday Evening. Little Earl Rowland, the 9 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rowland passed away at the hospital in Grand Rapids Monday evening of what is thought to have been infantile paralysis. The little fellow was taken ill on Friday in what appeared to be a slight cold. The usual treatments for cold were administered and then a doctor called, who advised hospital treatment. The child had had his tonsils removed and had had an operation for adenoids recently. It is thought by some that perhaps the child was not in the best of health and was therefore more susceptible to the disease. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home. He leaves besides his parents, a sister, Edith, 12 years-old, and a little brother, Gerald of four years. Earl was a regular Sunday school attendant, and was a favorite with his mates and teachers. He attended the Mills school. The Mills school and the Clarksville school are both closed. A little son of Herbert Geiger is in the hospital with the trouble. These arte the only cases reported.
