Ionia Standard – Friday, 3 June 1913
Newton Rowley of Easton died quite unexpectedly Saturday a.m.   Mr. Rowley is 
the highway commissioner of the district in which he lives.  On Wednesday he 
was doing some work on the Colton hill, and on his way home after the day’s 
work, riding in a buggy and the horse going at a fast clip, he came in 
collision with another rig, and in the mix-up Mr. Rowley sustained a broken 
leg, two fractured ribs, and other injuries, so that he was carried into a 
nearby house and was not taken to his home until the following day.  
Complication of pneumonia developed on Friday, and he passed away suddenly.  
Mr. Rowley was a long time resident of Easton, and one of the best known 
residents of the county.
