Rowley, 82, 314 Morse street, died Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock after a long illness. He had been in poor health for the past three years but was taken seriously ill with heart trouble a few days ago. He was born in New York state in 1853, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Rowley. He came to Michigan with his parents when he was four years old and had resided in Ionia county for the past 78 years. He was married in 1879 to Miss Lida Bellamy, daughter of Edward Bellamy, Easton township. He was city nightwatch here two years. For 57 continuous years he worked at the Michigan reformatory and during that time he was deputy warden for two years. About three years ago ill health forced him to quit active work, however he had remained in the reformatory payroll since retiring. He had traveled extensively through the United States and was a lifelong democrat. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Armena Buche, of Lake Odessa; one sister, Mrs. S. M. Mitchell, Ionia; one brother, Louis Rowley, of Lansing; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held from the home on Morse street Friday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. H. A. Simpson, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. Subsequent Publication: Saturday, July 13, 1935 Funeral services for Horace T. Rowley, who died Wednesday morning after a long illness, were held from the home, 314 Morse street, Friday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. H. A. Simpson, of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Music was rendered by Mrs. Thane Benedict and Mrs. John Hodgkins. Bearers were F. T. Wortman, Frank Gazella, Harvey E. Kidder, James Poole, Arthur A. Baxter and Herbert A. Ross. Interment was at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. Among the relatives from away attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rowley, of Lansing, and Mr. and Mrs. Armena Buche and family, of Lake Odessa.
