Feb. 16, 1950 ORSON E. ROWLEY DIES AS RESULT OF AUTO INJURIES Heart Condition Aggravated By Crash Jan. 30 Orson E. Rowley 60, of 513 High St., Ionia, and a lifelong resident of this area, died unexpectedly at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital, Tuesday morning at 11:00 o’clock. He had been a patient there since January 30 when he was seriously injured in an auto crash on M-44 just west of the Orleans intersection. At that time his car struck ice on a curve, went out of control and rolled over twice, nearly demolishing it. He received an injured back and chest and a cut nose, all of which aggravated a heart condition which eventually caused his death. Mr. Rowley owned and operated an oil station on W. Lincoln Ave. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges here. Surviving are his wife, Alta; a son, Smith Rowley of Orleans, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert Braman of Ionia; four granddaughters and a brother, Frank of Belding. The body was taken to his home Wednesday where it will remain until shortly before the services Friday when it will be taken to the Myers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday with the Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating. Interment will be in Green Cemetery, near Belding. Members of the Elks and Moose lodges are requested to attend in a group.
