Ionia Sentinel-Standard - April 10, 1973

Gilbert R. Rowley, 51, of 209 Strong road died Monday evening at his home 
following a short illness.

Born in Easton township, August 5, 1921, he was the son of Vern and Martha 
Monger Rowley.

He attended the Ionia Schools and lived five years in Lyons. Since that time he 
made his home in the Ionia area.

May 30, 1943,he was married in Ionia to Kathleen Lehman. He was employed at 
Ypsilanti Reed furniture Company and its successors the past 31 years. 

He was preceded in death by his father four years ago.

Besides the wife, Kathleen, he leaves three sons, Vern and Clifford of Easton 
township and Gilbert, Jr., at home: four daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Darnell, Mrs. 
Kathryn Parks and Mrs. Lorraine Montgomery, all of Easton township and Grace 
Rowley at home; 15 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Martha Rowley of Easton and a 
brother, Harry Rowley and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Wilson and Mrs. Sue 
Richards, all of Easton township.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 pm at Myers-Roetman funeral home. Rev. 
George Chaffies will officiate and interment will be at Easton cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the cardiac unit at Ionia County memorial 
hospital.
