He was then cremated. Bernard “Bernie” was born September 20, 1935, in Ionia, the son of George and Josephine Eaton Rowley. Bernie lived most of his life in Ionia, Belding and Weidman. He was a member of American Legion Post 437 of Barryton. He belonged to the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean War from 1954 to 1955. Bernie liked to travel. He drove semi truck across the states for 13 years. He liked fishing and socializing with his friends. He was loved and will be missed by many. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Eaton and George Rowley; son, Scott Rowley; and daughter-in-law, Diana Rowley. He is survived by his five children, Bernard “Bud” Rowley of Greenville, Shaun and Beth Rowley of Rexford, N.Y., Kevin Rowley of Belding, Shayne Rowley of Lake, Sherrie Edwards of Midwest City, Okla.; sister, Kathryn Black; brother, Eugene Rowley; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A burial ceremony is 2 p.m. Saturday at Sherman Township Cemetery, Sherman, with Pastor John Mellish Jr. and American Legion Post 427 officiating.
