After a long and lingering illness from consumption, Miss Alma Catharine Rowley, the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace T. Rowley, passed peacefully away into her last sleep at nine o'clock on Sunday morning. Her death though not unexpected, was a shock to her many young friends in the city, where she was regarded as one of the most estimable of young ladies, and one whose happy disposition and kindheartedness, made it a pleasure to be with her. Miss Rowley was born Sept. 12, 1879, and had she lived until next month, would have attained the age of 22 years. Although never of a robust constitution, her condition was not considered alarming until last September, when she was obliged to give up her work, and since that time has been growing steadily weaker. As is usual with victims of that dread disease, there were times when she would sufficiently recover her strength to be removed from her bed, but not for long, and complete exhaustion would inevitably follow the exertion. But within the last few weeks no hope has dared to be entertained for her recovery, and she passed away smilingly and happily, assuring her weeping parents that she was perfectly happy and not afraid to die. Deceased was an efficient employee of the Bell telephone exchange for some two years and a-half, and was loved and respected alike, both by her employees and associates in work. She was a student in the Ionia public schools, though not a graduate, owing to her delicate condition of health and had a bright intelligent mind, which if health had permitted, could have been broadened and utilized into a brilliant career of usefulness. The most sincere sympathy of a host of friends goes out to the bereaved parents, and a brother and sister, who are left to mourn the loss of a dutiful daughter and loving sister. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W.H. Thomas, from the residence, on corner of East Lafayette and Morse streets, at 2:30 on tomorrow afternoon. Interment in Highland Park. All friends wishing to view the remains may do so any time during tomorrow morning.
