Julia (Tootsie) Rushford, age 50, of Ionia, went to be with her Lord and 
Savior July 15, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. 

Julia was born February 18, 1953 in Carson City, Michigan, the daughter of 
William and Violet (Hawley) Rushford.  She attended Ionia Public School and 
was a member of the 1973 graduating class.  She was a member of the Temple 
Baptist Church of Ionia.  She is survived by her father William Rushford of 
Ionia, brothers Antone and Gwen Rushford of Fenwick, John Rushford of Ionia, 
sister Joann and David Witter of Ionia, special friend and cousin Sanday 
Lepard of Clarksville,.  Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews 
also survive.  She was preceded in death by her mother in 2000 and her sister 
Janet in 1980.

Funeral services for Julia will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Temple 
Baptist Church of Ionia, with Pastor Jim Houseman officiating.  Interment 
Balcom Cemetery.  The Rushford family will receive visitors on Thursday from 6 
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Anyone wishing may make 
memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or Temple Baptist Church.
